December 2024 – Update

Kia ora and greetings,

We are in the season of Light. On Sunday, we will light the fourth and last candle on the Advent wreath before lighting all candles on the Christmas tree. Our sisters and brothers of the Jewish faith will start lighting their Chanukah candles on the 25th of December. We are lighting candles to dispel the darkness of the shortest days in the Northern Hemisphere.
In Aotearoa New Zealand, we are experiencing the longest days of the year, and so, we are experiencing the natural light and the religious light together. Let’s hope that our inner light will also shine and spread love around us.

Thank you to all of you who have been supporting Titipounamu Study & Joy in 2024. It hasn’t been an easy year, and the most difficult part was losing our dear friend Kieran Fenn fms who inspired so many of us.

We have introduced a regular online meeting on the first Sunday of the month, in which we discuss and share our thoughts around a topic from the Scriptures: “Bible Stories—What do they mean?”, and we are organising further (online) events with a variety of speakers.

Muffin Talk continues to welcome guests from many parts of the world. For more than 10 years, we produced weekly 30min radio broadcasts in an Auckland studio. Today, we are more flexible, record many shorter video clips and interview people from many different countries who tune in online.
We will prepare our yearly “End-of-the-Year Special” with snippets of interviews broadcast in 2024.

We have many resources available on our website: thought-provoking reflections and quotes, booklets and beautiful greeting cards with pictures from Auckland gardens.
