November 2024 – Update

Kia ora and greetings,

The 16th of November is the International Day for Tolerance.
Helen Keller is quoted as saying that “The highest result of education is tolerance.” Let’s hope that our website www.studyjoy.nz is able to contribute to being filled with joy for education and hence fostering tolerance in an often intolerant world.

Recently, I organised an event on “Weaving Empathy” together with a friend of mine.  We had 22 people of different ethnicities, religions, gender and age, and it was wonderful to see how they all engaged in our activities and how they were truly weaving empathy. Empathy goes even beyond mere tolerance. It is about emotionally understanding what another person might be feeling.

We are now approaching the end of the current Church Year. From the Year of Mark, we are going to enter the Year of the Gospel according to Luke.
As our dear late Br Kieran used to say, the “Marian Gospel”. Br Kieran’s videos on the Year of Luke are still available on our YouTube channel, but we will also have the pleasure to welcome Fr Kevin Waldie SM to give a presentation for us on the topic
of “St Luke—How do we think of him as an author?”
It would be great to see you on Zoom on Monday, 25 November, 7-8.30pm.

We have many resources available on our website: thought thought-provoking reflections and quotes, booklets and beautiful greeting cards with pictures from Auckland gardens.
For more information, interviews and videoclips, please see our website.
